Sandhill View Academy is a secondary education school located in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, England. The school is part of a multi-academy trust alongside the nearby Southmoor Academy, allowing the two schools to work together closely and pool their resources in order to improve the education of pupils in their respective areas.
A Brief History of Sandhill View
Sandhill View was established in 1953 and has been an important part of its community since its founding. Over the years the school has undergone much growth and development, especially in recent years. Sandhill View moved into a modern building on the site of the original school in 2002.
This new school site contains some first class facilities including a community sports facilities, swimming pool, community library, theatre, youth club, motor vehicle workshop, industrial kitchen, learning resource centre, specialised SEN facilities and community education facilities.
After an unfavourable Ofsted inspection in 2013 the Governors took decisive action about the future of the school, culminating in conversion to Academy status in July 2015. Sandhill View Academy now operates as part of the Southmoor Multi trust.
The Academy has seen considerable changes since this time. Southmoor and Sandhill View Academies now enjoy true partnership and collaboration in terms of staff development, working practices and student experiences.
