Searching for Inspiration in Sunderland
On Friday 14th June a small group of Year 10 photography students spent the day exploring Sunderland as a reward for hard work in lessons. We began by meeting local artist and lecturer Natalie Gale at Sunderland University, students explored the Fine Art and Photography degree shows for inspiration. We then went on to take part in a Risograph printing workshop which students connected to their coursework theme. This was a brilliant opportunity and unique experience for students.
After the University students explored the Winter Gardens, Sunderland City Centre and we ended our trip with a visit to The Knife Angel. Students were capitvated by the sculptures size and beauty, we had many discussions about knife crime and many students are going to incorporate this into their project.
