We were honoured to invite MP for Houghton and Sunderland South Bridget Phillipson to our academy to meet with our newly selected student council. MP Phillipson was keen to hear from our students about the issues that mattered to them and they certainly did not disappoint! Students brought up an impressive range of issues from the local environment to mental health for young people, drug and alcohol abuse to racism and discrimination. MP Phillipson was very impressed by how engaging our students were and left with an excellent idea about their hopes and concerns for their area.
