On Top of the World
Year 9 students took part in an assembly and small writing workshops led by Matt Dikenson. Matt is a filmmaker and writer who is best known for his award-winning novels and his documentary work for National Geographic Television, Discovery Channel and the BBC. He was also one of the climbers caught in the 1996 Mount Everest disaster that killed many of the other climbers that year. As a part of this, students debated topics linked to climbing Mount Everest and crafted their own arguments concerning whether or not places like Everest should be open to the public for climbing.
Matt was very complimentary of our Year 9 students – he said they made some valuable contributions and made some interesting arguments!
Thank you to Matt for his fascinating talk with our students, they were truly enthralled by his description of his many adventures around the world researching for his books and films.
