Medical Marvels
As part of our Careers curriculum, a group of Year 10 students visited Sunderland University to find out about the range of careers available in the medical profession. All students found it a really interesting and informative event and it was a very much an interactive workshop. The university have a range of suites replicating the facilities and equipment of ambulances, general wards and theatres where the models were incredibly life-like. Students prepared infusions for drips (and with a well-known brand of coloured sweets!) dispensed medication. Using very life-like dummies, they learned how to do CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre. All students were a real credit to themselves and to Sandhill View Academy.
