Information Regarding Strike Action
The National Education Union (NEU) have planned a series of strike dates that will affect our school’s ability to open fully. The next date that will affect us is:
Tuesday 28th February 2023
There is no requirement for the NEU to inform us which members of staff will be on strike but we have been informed that we can reasonably expect approximately a third of teaching staff to be unavailable.
It is important to note that the action is not against Sandhill View Academy or the Aspire North East Multi Academy Trust.
Having considered a range of potential scenarios, we are now in a position to be able to confirm our plans for the day. The school will open to all Year 11 students and our more vulnerable students. All other students will be working from home, accessing their work through Microsoft Teams ‘Learning Zone’. They will also be given the opportunity to log onto some live lessons, where staff can offer further support with their work.
All students have the opportunity to come into school (main reception) for lunch at 12pm and will be dismissed as soon as they have eaten their food to make their own way home. Should your child wish to come to school for their lunch, can we ask that you respond to the relevant message via Class Charts which will follow.
All plans have been made with reference to the DfE guidelines.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding and continued support.
