Last Monday six year 9 girls joined Mrs McKinnell for the day at the British ESports Centre based in Sunderland; this was a career experience offered to us as we are a CyberFirst School. Whilst there the students were learning how to build their own Fortnite island in both design mode and coding mode. The girls worked on paired programming to build fantastic island that the staff were taking pictures of and complimenting them on their creativity.

During the visit we were given a tour of the building which included; gaming pod rooms, Sunderland College ESports team room, and the ESports houses which are rented by international teams. We also had the chance to meet the lecture from Sunderland College ESports and learn more about the course they offer. Each student received a certificate and ‘swag’ from the company Epic Games.
