Careers Explorer Day
Last week, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to explore more about the world of work and to learn about possible future pathways with our first ever Virtual Work Experience and Careers Explorer days. These events took place over two days. On day one, students learned more about employability skills from Skills Builder and were set a business challenge by the Lloyds Banking Group. At the end of the day, groups of students pitched their solutions to Lloyds Bank employees and Kalvin Sloan from 10E had the winning idea. The students also heard from our amazing visiting speakers Jasper Maudsley, Managing Director, McDonalds and Alex Hammond from Gentoo.
On day two, students took part in a carousel of different activities, including: a CV writing workshop, creating their own Globalbridge careers profile, finding out about apprenticeships, hearing about post-16 pathways from Southmoor Sixth Form, Newcastle College and Sunderland College, visiting a virtual careers fair and virtually meeting a range of different employees from different companies.
We hope that the two days has given students some inspiration to think about what they would like to do when they finish Year 11 next year.
