Astrophotographers
We have partnered with Kielder observatory to offer Year 10 and 11 students a once in a lifetime experience to explore Astrophotography with professional Astronomers and Astrophotographers. We began by attending a Photography lecture where students were introduced to photography techniques such as aperture and ISO and it was explained to students how these techniques would be used in Astrophotography. We then put our learning into action by creating light paintings in school before heading onto the field. Students used a telescope to study and photograph the moon and Jupiter. We are heading to Kielder in a couple of weeks for students to experience astrophotography firsthand at the famous Kielder Observatory.
Amongst our students is keen amateur Astrophotographer Travis Key from Year 10. Travis uses his Nextar8SE to photograph planets, nebulas and galaxies and he is now incorporating this into his photography coursework.
