SHV Scores Success
Last week our girls football team took on the Northern Girls Football Week Tournament in Durham. Sandhill view got off to an amazing start beating Hetton 3-1. Their second game was against St Thomas Moore which they won 1-0. In their third game the girls kept up their winning run with changes made to the team heralding a 7-0 win against Monkwearmouth. Even though the rain started to become heavy, the girls remained focused to beat Churchill 4-1 in their next game with some cracking saves from our goal keepers (Brooke Brown and for one match Courtney Clark). Their final group game was against George Stephenson school where the girls won 5-1.
With an impressive 20 goals scored the girls topped their league and went on to play a semi final against St Anthony’s Academy. This was a good game with end to end football, however Sandhill View managed to hold their own to win 1-0 and secure their place in the final.
The final was against Venerable Bede. The girls were very confident going into their last game and a real team atmosphere was felt by all. The sun came out and so did our players, brimming with energy. Tia scored a quick goal in first 2 minutes of the match to put Sandhill View on top 1-0. They continued to strive towards victory throughout the game. The girls went from strength to strength scoring a further 4 goals before the full time whistle went. We are proud to say Sandhill View Academy were the tournament winners. A fully deserved achievement by all the girls involved.
Well done girls. Great effort, attitude and a brilliant result for Sandhill View Academy at this FA competition.
