National Apprenticeship Week 2025
Last week in the UK was National Apprenticeship Week and as always at Sandhill View, we like to support as much as we can. This year’s National Apprenticeship Week is all about celebrating the successes of Apprentices all across the country, and the skills needed to be successful. As a celebration of this we invited some of our very own SHV Apprentice Alumni to spend some time with our students to tell them about their apprenticeship journey.
As part of the week various sessions have also been occurring across including live seminars with Boots the chemist and tech based companies advising students in Year 8 and 10 on how they can work for them and what an apprenticeship would involve. We also had the pleasure of Beth Wade joining us who works as an Apprentice for a marketing company in Gateshead.
Sunderland University also came into school to talk about routes into healthcare for a group of Year 9 students. We discussed apprenticeships as a new option for this and students got to use stethoscopes which they found fascinating! We ended the week with skills for life workshop for a different group of Year 9, looking at our Go Further employability skills and how these can be used as a way to support students with careers pathways all through their life.
