Girls Gets Set
On Thursday, we launched an exciting new project with twelve Year 9 students embarking on their journey to earn the prestigious Bronze Industrial Cadet Award. Leading the way was a team from Baker Hughes, an innovative energy technology company based in Cramlington. Representatives Lisa, Lauren, and Anne shared their inspiring career paths, setting the stage for the year ahead.
This year-long program is designed to give students a hands-on, immersive experience in STEM careers, guiding them through project-based learning, team-building exercises, and exposure to diverse career paths. By the end of the program, each student will not only have gained invaluable skills and insights but will also proudly hold their Bronze Industrial Cadet Award.
In their first session, the students had an engaging introduction to the principles of energy by creating fruit batteries. Working together to link lemons and light up LEDs, they got a practical taste of the innovation and curiosity that STEM careers inspire.
